TRAIL, BC (August 2, 2016) – The City of Trail is very pleased to announce that it has released tender documents and is now seeking bids for the construction of the Trail Riverfront Centre, the integrated library and museum that will be located on the corner of Bay Avenue and Helena Street in downtown Trail. The project was issued for tender on August 2, 2016 and will close at 2 pm on Friday, August 26, 2016. The successful contractor is expected to start construction in September with the estimated date for completion in November 2017. Prospective bidders can find all the information under Document No. 7838 on the BC Bid website.

“This is a major educational and cultural milestone for Trail,” says Councillor Robert Cacchioni, Chair of the Riverfront Centre Building Committee. “The integrated facility, offering innovative learning tools while celebrating Trail’s history and heritage, will be an anchor to our City’s downtown core. Also, the building’s proximity to the soon-to-be complete Columbia River Skywalk (pipeline/pedestrian bridge) will increase walkability while creating connectivity amongst our communities.”

“We’ve been working on a ‘Making Industry Beautiful’ concept with a multigenerational approach for this landmark facility for several months,” says Sam Collins of MMM Group Limited (WSP/MMM), the Riverfront Centre’s Project Manager. “We look forward to seeing all this hard work come fruition, and we are excited for Trail to celebrate new educational opportunities, its historic roots and its future.”

The City is currently preparing the site for the new two-story 15,000 sq./ft. facility so construction can start soon after the contract has been awarded to the successful applicant.
