Coors Banquet One Horse Town Finalist: Kimberley!

In its second year hosting the One Horse Town contest, Coors Banquet has selected Kimberley among six other towns, finalists eligible to win a legendary country music concert experience. The entertainers featured are JUNO award winner Dean Brody, and fellow Canadian Country musicians Chad Brownlee and River Town Saints.

In the inaugural run of the contest last year, more than 1200 citizens of Lacombe, AB enjoyed a free concert by Tim Hicks and the Road Hammers.

Coors Banquet looking for community pride

Narrowing down to six contenders, Nicole Wolff, marketing manager for Coors Banquet, said they monitored the community spirit of various towns and cities across Canada where residents posted photographs of their hometowns on the Coors Banquet social media pages to drum up interest and support for their city.

Alongside Kimberley, determined by over 2200 submissions, the other towns include: Vermilion, Alberta; Gimli, Manitoba; Kenora, Ontario; St. Jean Port Joli, Quebec and Truro, Nova Scotia. The qualifications came down to population, smaller cities, of course and community spirit. “The town has to be under 50,000 people and embody the spirit of the contest. We look at home town pride, excitement to host a concert like this, overall town spirit and quality of submission,” Wolff said.
