Location! Location! Location!
Nestled in the lower folds of the Selkirk Mountains, just south of Kaslo, at the base of Tru Blu sits a one-of-a-kind farm property. And due to the geography, there is no highway (boat or train) noise despite having level road access and being only 5 minutes from the stunning and historic downtown Kaslo. Also, it is at the end of the powerline. So, our only neighbour is off grid, meaning there are no lights visible from the farm – making for incredible star gazing. As for recreation, the driveway is directly connected to dozens of kilometers of sanctioned horse, mountain bike and hiking trails.
It’s like no other property in the Kootenays and it must be experienced to be fully appreciated.

Land & Water
There are ~45 acres of land which includes ~35 flat in the ALR and ~10 out and unzoned. The farm sits at 680m and after millennia of being a wetland has exceptional soil – 1 to 2 ft of red clay loam sitting on top of sand/gravel – with a micro-climate best suited to growing berries, fruit and nut trees, flowers and root vegetables. Case in point; our handful of cherry trees, both sweet and sour, had a bumper year in ‘24 – given that it has never dropped below -21C here.
Regarding soil inputs, no chemicals or pesticides have been applied since at least 1985. It was operated as a Biodynamic farm until 2015, and organically since then.
Another interesting aspect of the property is that we can see our entire watershed. Lofstedt Creek flows off Tru Blu, 4,400 ft above, and runs year-round to deliver us copious amounts of clear mountain water. There are 2 residential water licences and 30-acre feet for irrigation.

Infrastructure
The jewel of the property is the 100-year-old, 1700 square foot, hand-hewn log home that has a metal roof to keep it dry for restoration. There are two large post and beam barns – one enclosed (35’ x 80’) and one 3-sided (35’ x 150’). In addition, there are 2 trailers (one currently inhabitable), along with a couple of small cabins and outbuildings. There are 3 septic systems.
In the center of the farm sits a fully fenced and secured 4-acre Health Canada licenced cannabis operation – developed to produce quality flower at an extremely low cost, to limit any risk in this still maturing market. There is also an irrigation pond with two irrigation systems – one for the cannabis and one that reaches most of the other fields.

Nature
The farm is surrounded by a surprisingly intact natural ecosystem with an amazing amount of life. From the big (towering trees, bears, moose, elk, cougars and wolves) to small (lizards, frogs, toads, salamanders, trout, orchids and wildflowers) to winged (owls, eagles, turkeys, grouse, woodpeckers, swallows, ducks, blue birds, jays, hummingbirds, bats, countless native pollinators and more) to even the edible (berries, roots and so many mushrooms).

Must be experienced to be fully appreciated! – Don’t just drive by!
