Arrow and Slocan Lakes Community Services
Arrow & Slocan Lakes Community Services was incorporated as a provincial non-profit society in 1974 and as a federally Registered Charitable Organization in 1983. The Society was originally formed to deliver homemaker services to the Nakusp area, and since then has grown to become a multi-program agency encompassing Arrow, Slocan and Trout Lakes region from Edgewood to Nakusp to Silverton. About 6,000 people live and work in the area and our services impact a wide range of the local population from newborns to seniors.
The Village of Nakusp and surrounding lakeside communities in the West Kootenay region of BC are vibrant, safe and friendly. We are surrounded by the beautiful Selkirk and Monashee mountain ranges, natural and developed hot springs, and the historic Arrow Lakes. At Arrow & Slocan Lakes Community Services, we have a dedicated team of professionals providing information, activities, transportation, counseling, employment services, food, shelter, and referrals to people from all walks of life. We help make work happen through our WorkBC Employment Services Centre, and provide Regional Transit on many bus routes in the Central Kootenay’s and Creston Valley. We work closely with our sister organization Halcyon Assisted Living Society in Nakusp, Revelstoke and New Denver to assist those who wish to live as independently as possible. Our employees enjoy and take pride in their work, with an overall vision of a happy, healthy community.
