Commercialization Funding for SMEs Hosted by the Government of Canada

On March 14, 2016, Western Economic Diversification Canada (WD) will be launching the 3rd call for proposals for the Western Innovation Initiative (WINN). The first two intakes resulted in support for 21 projects in B.C. with companies receiving over $18 million in funding commitments.

The intake period for the Western Innovation Initiative is now open until April 13, 2016, at 2 p.m. (MDT)

Western Innovation Initiative: Call for Proposals

WINN is a five-year, $100 million federal funding initiative that offers repayable contributions to western Canadian small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to commercialize innovative technology-based products, processes or services. WINN represents a step forward in addressing the commercialization gap in the Canadian innovation system.

WINN seeks to enhance Canada’s business advantages and encourage the private sector to bring new ideas to market. Please visit the WD website for further information about WINN and how to apply for funding.

How to Apply

The WINN Initiative will be delivered through a call for proposals process where applicants will have 30 days to submit their application. Saved applications that have not been submitted during an application period will not be accessible and cannot be submitted once the deadline has passed.

Responses provided to the questions on your Application Form, as well as accompanying attachments, will form your business’ proposal for WINN funding. You should respond to these elements in a thorough, concise and clear manner, and ensure that all necessary attachments are included.
