Halcyon Hot Springs
Halcyon Hot Springs was originally developed as a resort in 1893 but abandoned in 1955. When Sabine and her husband Ulf came across this gem of an opportunity in 1997, they were amazed at the quality of the springs and stunning location. They undertook the re-development of these pristine natural hot springs and were thrilled to be able to have the opportunity to add a sustainable business to the community that was of low impact to the environment that they so loved.
Sabine and Ulf enjoy the lifestyle of living in the Nakusp area where they commute from south of Fauquier along the shores of the Arrow lakes between home and Halcyon. “I love the nature, small population, the lake and mountains, the peaceful valley that has the appeal of the great North, but is located in the south with a pleasant climate that allows us to grow a lush garden,” says Sabine.
Halcyon Hot Springs is a very rare Lithia mineral water that is beneficial for bathing and drinking. The resort features a stunning location with a good stretch of own lakeshore, terraced mineral pools of different temperatures, accommodation in cottages, chalets, and cabins ranging from luxurious to comfortable, an award-winning restaurant, full-service spa and more. The resort is popular with locals, but it also attracts guests from all over the world that come to enjoy the springs. In the winter time Halcyon Hot Springs partners with CMH for world famous heli-skiing. Halcyon Hot Springs is open year round and they employ 40 – 50 people depending on the season.
